Kids would tease you down in the neighbourhood if you exhibited so much as an affinity for anything girly. "Flowers? Yuck", we'd say. "Flowers, wine and dresses are for morons". Yet the irony of it all is that these are the things that now set my heart aflame. I'm normally in my local flower shop for ages before I choose my flowers. The colours I pick pretty much depend on how I feel that day and also what vase I will set them in. I know nothing at all about flower arranging so I just go with whatever ever flowers look nice together. I really can't wait to get my own tiny little apartment in Holland, Italy or elsewhere in Europe, where I can deck out my walls and cabinet tops with flowers and paintings. So far in life, this really is my only goal. It'll be like walking into a beautiful jungle - filled with oxygen and possibly spiders and flies (hubby will fix that).
When was the last time someone bought you flowers? How did you feel? As cliché as it may sound, being treated to wine, dinner, flowers and a movie sounds like the perfect thing to me. Dare I say it that I am a romantic at heart. For ages I tried to deny it, but it's true! All those soppy chick-flicks are so me... And I don't say that with a powerful conviction either! As we make our way into Spring, I can't wait to start my flower-buying, wine-sipping, movie-watching rituals again.
The best flowers in my eyes are sunflowers. I received them once in the post from an old friend and couldn't stop grinning as I watered them. After this, my favourites definitely have to be Dahlias, Bindweeds, Calla-Lily, Lavenders, Tulips and I love me some Roses too. So in short, if you want to win me over, buy me flowers–maybe some Italian Rosé wine if you're feeling fancy.
