Hey! Just taking a small break from posting my Kerning Conference photos to show you a project I worked on a while ago. I previously posted about the work I did in collaboration with BeExposed, and I'd mentioned another issue that was coming up. This is it; a six-page spread with the singer Rae Morris. I definitely enjoyed designing this issue more than the MNEK one, mostly because this issue didn't drag on as long as the other one. I'm working really hard behind the scenes to take this digital magazine to a print magazine. I think print mags have so much value, and people take to them much more. I find that if something is going to be designed on a digital platform, then it really needs to be on its A-game.
And I think this issue was a lot more refined, since I had just started my job in Publishing (where I was complex typesetting almost every day), which meant that I was learning an awful lot; and could subsequently bring more skills to designing this. This means that the social media needs to be on point, and it has to be loud and demanding, as most things on the internet are. When you've got something printed and in front of you, it's very difficult not to want to feel it and form a judgement on that - whereas the digital-created content doesn't have that luxury yet. It is with this in mind that BeExposed will be coming to your coffee tables soon! With careful planning and drive (read: industry contacts) I'm sure this'll be a reality.
