I'm not sure if I ever did a write-up of the Kerning Conference in Italy last year. In either effect, I went again this year to work as their team photographer. The biggest advantage, I suppose, was meeting a lot of designers whose work I'd studied for years. I definitely didn't take as many flicks as I could have; but between running around trying to get the event all set up, and locating lost speakers, I had my hands a little tied! Among the speakers were; Tobias Frere-Jones, Indra Kupferschmid, Bruno Maag and a few others. My personal favourite was Laura Worthington. She's a typeface and lettering designer with a body of work any design student and typographer can hope to achieve. I must confess that I'd never heard of her or her incredible work, and actually we were speaking for about an hour before she casually dropped who she was and that she was one of the speakers! Laura's definitely one of the most humble, and warmest people I've met in a while (in the type world, that is), and actually most people that attend this conference are. It's why I keep going back. The air is super genuine and friendly. I'd definitely suggest it if you're interested in type and design.
